Landowners may verify through Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) audits that environmental, economic, and social values of their land are being maintained.

Are there advantages to certifying my lands?
FSC certification is the "gold standard" of forest certification systems and verifies to landowners and others that the lands are being managed to the highest current standards. Pulpmills and other buyers often give procurement preferences for such wood and occasionally pay more for it.

Does my land need to be FSC certified?
Certification is entirely voluntary. At the moment, only about 60 parcels and 14,000 acres are enrolled in our certified pool. Enrollees have pledged to maintain current management plans and timber inventories and hire Two Trees to oversee harvesting on their parcels.

Do all Two Trees-managed lands meet FSC standards?
All Two Trees-managed timber sales meet certification standards, though the lands may not be certified. For instance, owners who want help with a timber harvest, but who don't have a protocol-mandated management plan, can't be certified.

Does it cost more to get land FSC certified?
Two Trees charges nothing extra to be part of our certified lands, though interested owners must have a comprehensive management plan and timber inventory and contract with Two Trees for all timber harvests.

"We have had Two Trees manage about 800 acres of our land for about 20 years. Sustainable forestry means a great deal to us Having the land FSC Certified gives us and many of the people that buy wood products from us the confidence that our forest management is as good as it gets."
